Cheap wedding success moment

I’d like to start this issue with an inspiring cheap wedding success moment, emailed to me by Sarah.

“Hello Nicola

Thanks to information you provided on your website, I managed to negotiate a great price with my venue. I got a clear quote with no add-ons. The advice you gave me really helped me to know what I should ask and it now means I’ll be able to keep to my wedding budget of £6,700. I’m really chuffed!
Thanks Sarah”

I think that’s a great achievement, well done! I hope the rest of the tips and advice on the site helps you too. Thanks for letting me share your success as well! :o)

If you have a cheap wedding success moment to share, please email it to me.

5 ways to save on.... invitations

For this newsletter, I’m focusing on invitations. Here’s my top five ways to save:

1. If you’re getting your stationery printed, then go for simpler printing techniques. Anything glittery, embossed (raised from the paper) or engraved will be quite expensive. The simpler you go, the more you’ll save.

2. Don’t use return envelopes for your RSVPs. Give your guests an email address or phone number to reply to. If you’re still set on RSVPs, then use a postcard – at least you’ll save on envelopes and postage for them!

3. If posting your invites, check the weight and always send them second class. You’ve got plenty of time, so two to three days for delivery is just fine.

4. Do the invitations yourself. It gives you the chance to be creative as well as unique. It will also save you a fortune.

5. If you’re looking for a really cheap option and you don’t mind an informal approach, then email your invites. It really will cost you next to nothing!

New cheap wedding tip

For this issue, my favourite tip has to be using little bags of lavender in the ceremony venue. It creates a beautiful scent in the church or venue for the ceremony. You only need to place one or two small bags, bowls or boxes in the pews or rows to create a lovely scent in the air.

It’s different, really cheap to do and can be used as confetti by the guests afterwards. By doing this, you could reduce the number of flower arrangements in the church as the smell of the lavender will create a special feel in the venue instead.

Final thought from me

This is the first issue of Cheap Wedding Tips and I’ve really enjoyed writing it. I hope you’ve enjoyed reading it too. In the next few weeks I intend to write lots more pages for the site. I’ve also got my sister’s wedding coming up, so I’ll be armed with lots of new and exciting tips and ideas to share.

See you next time!

Nicola x
